I've been looking at the cut of the rear door and i think the reason it slants forward so oddly is that if they'd kept the same wheelbase and made the cut straight or rearward slanting like most cars, they would have had to lengthen the roof, and lengthen the trunk proportionally, and the car is probably already 19 ft.
Close up on the tail lights is an awesome photograph.....There is also a possibility that's Chrysler push button transmission inside that car... Very nice find.....
Memories for sure, that's all my older brother Dave ever drove were Imperial's, last year he was alive he had 26 that he had restored over the years. RIP BIG BROTHER

The reason for the rear door shape may be required for the window to go completely down and leave a clean opening.
The rear end is dramatic. Seems like Lincoln inspired.

Stunning, simply stunning. Not a line of a detail I would change. All this and a big block 413 under the hood.
Sad the say, a lot of these met their fate as derby cars back in the 70's/early 80's. How anyone could do such a thing I will never know.
