Such a clean design.

That car is in great shape. And a really nice design. Toyota (and many other brands) were so practical and stylish back then.

Mikael you make a good point. That rear bumper looks strange. Is it just lens distortion or is there something odd about it.

I have an '80 Corolla wagon, and it too has the huuuuge safety bumpers. I took the rear off, but the front remains. I call it the "diving board".

Always considered these a two door wagon but they called it a liftback. There was another liftback which was really a liftback but they called it a sport coupe. They also called the sport coupe a hardtop but it wasn't a hardtop because the back windows didn't open. Meanwhile the 2 dr wagon, which they called a liftback, had opening windows so it was really a hardtop but they didn't call it a hardtop they called it a liftback, even though it was really a wagon.

Now that we can only buy four door sedans we just don't get to have fun like this anymore.

Yep, those bumpers are 80's specials... the ones on my 81 Corolla are in good shape, the ones on my 83... not so much. The one in rear sags like a mofo.

Thank goodness, they sell the JDM chrome bumpers(the rear has the license plate light built onto them) on Ebay.

Too bad the shipping cost just as much as the bumpers. lol

Roadmaster, uh YES, the hardtop's rear side windows DID roll down... I had an 82 Corolla SR-5 hardtop coupe, and the windows did roll down...

so you had NO pillar...which made it a true hardtop.

This body style was called a shooting brake in Europe... meaning a 2dr wagonlike hatchback.

Mint, great side shot. Shame about the steelies on the passenger side missing the trim rings.
