i was looking way back at our earliest posts very recently and thinking how many remarkable cars we found right off the bat, maybe not able to fully appreciate what was rare and significant. and i was looking at the 323gtx specifically and wondering if i'd ever see that car again, much less another, different car.
just nuts.
but... how sure are you that it's a real turbo 4wd gtx and not just a 323 with wheels and two spoilers?
I took a peek inside for the sweet console with the diff lock. And it has a Full Time 4wd fender sticker that I've seen on some other Google image searches.
This would be a rare sight anywhere, only few thousands GTXs were made overall. Some sources say 5000 (for homologation purposes) but I haven't been able to confirm that.
A friend of mine has one (white) and he's restoring it. Currently the shocks are the issue: This car has adjustable drive height and that adjustment is broken and new shocks are either N/A or ridiculously expensive.
And it doesn't function like intended with ordinary shocks, a dilemma.
@Thomas, weld threaded sleeves on to whatever compatible shock body you want for adjustable ride height.
i'd love to find one of these in original condition but you just can't seem to do it. they've all been blown up or otherwise thrashed to pieces. i don't even know what i'd do with it; the urge to modify would be so great but the cars are so rare that i'd be tempted to just hold onto it for posterity.

The coolest hot hatch ever (with the possible exception of the Sprint Turbo). Total sleeper, rally homolagation, 4wd Turbo, etc, etc... Sweet.
Pffft! 80's crap.
Rare to see a GTX in such good condition, as most are have long since rusted away.
Stateside this was definitely one of the better 80's hot hatchbacks. In Europe you had plenty of others to choose from...here not so much.
I'd drive it!
Being the Mazda 3232 GTX, the most powerful small hatch in the world, it'll blow your Camaro clean off.
Awesome find, it actually looks good with those wheels.
