I haven't seen one of these since the late '80's. It was sitting on a buy-here-pay-here lot in Eloise, Fl. It was in pretty fair shape and I almost bought it save for the fact that parts are all but impossible to get here in Polk county. Looking back, maybe I should've bought it as the '78 Mustang I bought from this lot burned to the ground due to an engine fire. I like this car!
sort of rare, definitely interesting. is anyone surprised to see so many old Toyotas running and driving in original condition? i'd hope not...
it's almost comical how small these are parked next to a modern corolla. i'd say the roof rack is actually serving a purpose here from the context clues: there's a storage compartment strapped to it instead of a fixie, there's a total lack of "lifestyle" stickers to be found anywhere and the ride height is functional.
if the owner is a hipster, as was stated above, he's a master at the art of subtle irony. the anchos do look pretty good on this car, but i really couldn't fault the guy if he went with drop blocks and diy coilovers plus minilites (or similar). no sense in cleaning up the rust. the last picture, minus the other cars in the lot, is reminiscent of an 80's-90's Soviet Bloc portrait. totally resplendent in the gloomy overcast and cosmetic rust.

I'm surprised they haven't put a Starbucks in that vacant lot.
did you see the starbucks logo in the left margin of pic #3? if you didn't, that's very funny. if you did, it's still very funny.
Looks pretty good with those Supra wheels.

I'm just as interested in that mid 80's Honda Prelude it's parked next to! Nice.
