Hey guys, I've been taking some pictures of old/interesting cars in my area, of course having taken inspiration from your blog. Earlier today I shot an old Accord and the mother who owned it approached me very offended and just wasn't buying that I actually loved her car. Do you guys have similar experiences?

Story of my life Calvin. 80s cars are particularly hard to sell interest and appreciation for. I'm sure Tony has a million similar stories, sometimes genuine enthusiasm works, sometimes nothing works. But don't give up!

hahaha, yes, '80s cars are impossible!

one time somebody had just bought a car and was worried that i was photographing it because it had been used in a crime before she acquired it. she was relieved when i said otherwise but doubted that i actually cared.

another time, the guy's car had body damage, and he thought that's what i was photographing for insurance or criminal reasons. he was within seconds of clobbering me. but he loved his isuzu i-mark, so he totally got it when i expressed my appreciation for the car's rarity.

another time a lady was going to call the cops on me. it was her neighbor's car i was photographing, so she couldn't quite stop me, but she was giving me the evil eye the whole time until i gave her a business card, and that changed everything. she said, "oh, old parked cars, are you located on Division?"

on that note, ben, will you please let atika know that i need some more cards?

@ben: wow indeed i am a happy boy at your documentation of this freaking fuego. and i was not too pleased to see the homepage cluttered up with a bunch of youtube videos, but damn--those are some good videos.

They should've played the theme from the film "Sorcerer" in the background of those videos to better describe the horrors of actually owning one.

I saw one sitting in a garage in Fall River, MA 10 years ago, it might still be there.

The French Camaro... I liked these when they were current. Actually hold up nicely, style wise. Probably not so much mechanically wise, though.
