wow, I never knew they imported these until now, and now I know why. they only sold around 320 of them in the U.S. this is a second gen corona under the us import name tiara. I always thought Toyota started with the Toyopet crown in the 50's and then sold the land cruiser by itself after the crown bombed until they introduced the 3rd gen corona in the mid 60's. this is a very interesting find and a great looking mini 50's styled car to boot. whoever the owner is has 3 of the rarest Toyota's to ever grace our land. best of 2012 nomination right here.
They are everywhere in Australia. By everywhere, I mean I've seen one, which my mate owned. Plus there is a Tiara ute for sale on ebay at the moment - only utility I have seen. I believe both were built in Melbourne at the then-newly built Toyota factory.
Didn't know they (Toyota Japan) exported them LHD to the States until I found this blog 2 seconds ago.
There's a fourth one in the barn! Two in the Toyota museum in Torrence and one in a barn in Pennsylvania. If anyone knows of any additional I'd like to know as we work to restore the next one.
I've only seen one live, ever. It was the same color scheme. That was around 1972-3. The guy that owned it always had odd vehicles. He sold it because it rusted through around the body/clutch pedal mount and he couldn't get repairs and parts. He owned it for about 9 months and it sat for 3 of those.

The two Tiaras from the Torrence museum are in Vancouver Canada on the set of Man in the High Castle, which I had my old cars in at the time. I took a little joyride around the set in the gray colored one with my Japanese fiancée and we had a blast.
Still have my Toyota and is still for sale anyone want to make an offer
I owned one of these back in the 70s. I would give my eye teeth to have it back.
