It just looks so cool. Thanks, Ben. You had one of these as the banner picture for awhile and it deserved it. I really think only orange and white or red and white works for the color combination. I saw one of these parked in Seattle that was green and white and it didn't have the same effect on me even though it was still nice.
I really am glad to see more of these about than fj40's. It seems like the fj55 doesn't get enough attention as opposed to the fj40's. I love the looks of this truck. it's got that weird thing where 2/3rds of the body is slab sided and then at the A pillar the body narrows from the fenders and has a very different look, the fj40 has that design too, but it's too evident, the fj55's is more subtle, and that orange and creme white do go great together. I'll take this over a fj40 any day
yeah, most distinctive generation of fj, for sure. they were only made for a few years, compared with the fi40s, which remained in production for over a decade. i think the 55s were also just more usable than the 40s, so they got worn out and used up, while 40s sat unused in garages. and now you can choose from 100 different mint condition 40s on eBay at any given time.
love these in any color combo, but yeah, this might be the ultimate.
i just moved to USA from sydney&have not seen a landcruiser pick up or trooper yet, have they ever been imported to states?they are very popular in australia&asia and not to mention mideast.nice find mate.thanks.christopher.
@ anon/Christopher, I read recently that the fj45 was in fact imported to the U.S. from 1963 or 64 to 1967 but they are much more rare here in the states then the 40's or 55's. they supposedly came in 3 styles, lwb pickup, swb pickup and lwb wagon or troop transport model as some called it. I have never seen any of these variations in the U.S though, I have read of people trying to figure production numbers imported to the U.S. and one person figured about 3 to 4 thousand for all bodystyles over the 4-5 year run. the only one your gonna see in abundance over here is the fj40, even the fj55's are rare now.
I was in a pickup truck and had lightning hit the top of the cab. Didn't hear any sound at all other than the sound of the metal buckling. one heck of a bright flash though. The sound was like someone had jumped onto the roof of the truck and the metal had buckled down and popped back up. I just sat there for quite a while and had no intention of getting out and looking for damage. I like the landcruiser.

Too cool. I have never actually seen one, though. Wish there were more of them in the states.
Ha! This looks like the one that I saw in The Lost Boys last week! Love these bad boys!
