Mid 80s Beemers are just so cool looking! Hard to choose between 7 series and 5 series as my favorite. This is one of the best I've ever seen. Congrats to Fred for owning and preserving such a great example!
That is a wonderful, gorgeous, superbly engineered, great-driving car. Its a thrill to see one in such superb condition and a tribute to the quality of materials used by BMW and the care taken by the owner. Kudos to Fred, he should be proud. I'll bet this thing drives rock-solid and is great on long trips.
One of the advantages of cars of this vintage is the comparative simplicity of the control electronics. Much less prone to technological obsolescence. (sp?)

Fittingly parked in front of a tennis court on a blue sky day for a dose of old school Reagan/yuppie era optimism.

I love that someone bought a BMW new in 1980, and thought nope I am not paying extra for a passenger mirror.
