Is that a home-built air-scoop for a supercharger, or does this outfit have a clothes drier in the back seat?

Any idea about the window scoops? Besides clothes dryer, that is.
I didn't know that hard tops were made for these, interesting.Big elephant foot rear lights are looking really funny on a Thing.
1974 Things were made with air scoops on side behind passenger doors. Hardtops were a dealer option they were not made by VW.
