They were called Plymouth Champs and Dodge Colts from 1979 to 1982.after that it was named a Colt by both brands. They had Twin Sticks....not an overdrive system but 8 separate forward gears. Great dependable cars thru Chrysler ala their 10 to 20% ownership of Mitsubishi. I owned a 1979 Champ . I had it for 4 years and 115,000 miles. No big repairs...just maintenance and brake pads every 15K miles...never adjusted or replaced the clutch. Bought it new and kept thru college. 40 mpg..... not as solid as a Honda Civic but also not as expensive... I couldn’t afford a civic.

Man this thing's ugly. The only redeeming qualities are the pinstripes and the popout rear windows. I'd totally drive this!
Easy to see what it was called the Plymouth Dolt.
Also known as Mitsubishi Colt.
Ugly yes but how many pretty cars early 80s could produce .... I can't remember a single one so it's the zeitgeist. ;)
Growing up in the 80s I felt like every other car was one of these. How often do you see them now?
