Woh, I didn't even notice that until now. When I saw this in your hood, I actually just figured it was the same car I'd shot before. And I loved it so much, I thought I'd just do a revisited post. You can imagine how pleased I was when I noticed differences between them.
A friend of mine had a brown one like that a couple years ago. It ran incredible, not sure if it had the original engine. I think he did a Toyota 1.8 engine swap to it, to make it more everyday reliable.
This looks like the British were given blueprints for a beetle and the foreman at the factory said, "no,no, they've got it all wrong. The engine goes 'round the front!"
