These cars were built between 1985-1990. In Turin, Italy! Not Sweden. About 8500 were built in the those 5 years. Designed by Bertone and not by Jan Wilsgaard. Since its italian built, it is a bit more fragile than other Volvos built at that time. It was handmade. So it shouldn't be driven during the winterseason, to keep it a clean and as durable as a Volvo should be :-) No part of car fits any of the 740 or 760. except for doorhandel or the buttons inside perhaps. They planned to fit a V6 PRV 2.5 l turbo (Renault) und the bonnet at first. But the engine did tend to overheat. Cause the engine compartment was smaller then of the other 700 series. - a proud Volvo Bertone owner in Switzerland -
It was actually made from 1986 to 1991 but the '91 was just badged Coupe. The mechanical parts are the same ast 700/900. Body parts are all different. I've owned 2 91s.

Nice looking, simple and RWD...
Would make a nice platform to do a 350 or 302 V-8 conversion...
Can you say "sleeper"?
With that blandness, they'd never see you coming... or going. LOL
