Wohoho! I had no idea such a car existed! I think this is a rare example of a car looking almost as good from the back as it does from the front. Beautiful lines, bumpers and tail lights.
I owned one of these back in 1969, and loved it. It was quick, it was easy to maintain, and it could go almost anywhere. It is the first car I bought. I had it when I met my wife of 40 years and wish I still had it now. I didn't good care of it and finally had to junk it. I never wanted a VW until I saw this one. I would love to find another one.

i concur. that little side indicator light tucked into the trim piece is marvelously ahead of its time.

These cars didn't come out until at least 1966, if not later.
